On February 16, 2024, over 50 second-year students from the Department of Science embarked on an educational visit to the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in Pune. The trip, commencing at 7:00 am, was a significant opportunity for the students to explore the world-class radio telescope facility. During the visit, students had the chance to witness the cutting-edge technology and learn about the role of GMRT in astronomical research.
The day-long excursion included interactive sessions, guided tours, and hands-on experiences, allowing the participants to deepen their understanding of radio astronomy. The students were able to engage with scientists and researchers at GMRT, gaining insights into the fascinating field of radio telescope operations and data analysis.
The visit proved to be an enriching experience, providing the students with practical exposure to the application of theoretical concepts learned in their academic curriculum. The group returned to the college by 9:30 pm, concluding a day filled with educational exploration and inspiration.
